California or China??
Ha with all my photos, it feels like I'm in China rather than California. Yesterday I had Hotpot with squid, pork liver, fish balls, Buffalo tendon balls, and tons of veggies. It's not the same as the hotpot they have in China, but very similar--I'm told. Either way it was incredible delicious. :)
Today I had whole cooked fish. It looks slightly intimidating, but has the same taste and flavor of. Ha just beware of the bones! it was a huge meal, but lots of flavors. That's the great thing about take-home boxes too (You'll have lunch for tomorrow).
At work, there was a ice cream social. I got to talk to the CEO for a bit and find out more resources provided by Sunpower. So far I've been interviewing employees, researching, and analyzing information. I have to to bring it together for a quick presentation tomorrow.
Next: Progress report tomorrow, hope my supervisor's impressed! Looking to make a trip to San Franisco this weekend (Just in time for the famous gay parade festival ;) )

2nd Day of Work
Take a tour of the office with up. It's a bright, open-spaced office (with solar panels outside of course).
The indirect procurement team is a small crew, but have the neatest names. [Captain] Kirk and Padriac (an extremely Irish name, not to be confuse with Patrick) form the Indirect team. They have a laid back Californian attitude, but are hard worker bees and super supportive.
It was a rather stressful day but made better by having dinner with my neighbor at a Asian restaurant. He was from Shanghai, China, so we talked about culture, sports, music, language, and gained a better understanding of each other's differences. Dinner was a spicy tofu and fish dish with rice....don't ask me what it was called [haha]. I also bought Leechy, ginger candy chews, and a flat looking pear.
I also found out there is an In and Out Burger near by as well ;)
Jie Xu and I and definitely going to check it out soon.
Till Tomorrow....

DAY 1 continued…
The most interesting part, across the street from my hotel is an Asian strip mall and Asian Market. I had a field day! :D Every night I’m going to try a new location for dinner and get something new at the store.
Next to try: Taro pastries! Taro, from my experience with it, is a bland, flavorless plant usually eaten as a oatmeal like paste. It was not tasteful at all the first time I had it, but I’ve never tried it in a bread and I’m open to new experiences.
ANCIENT CHINESE WISDOM
Me: “No what happens?”
Old-man: “They wake up with their eyes slanted” [haha I’m thinking ‘oh boy’]
He proceeds to tell me how not to get fat…
Then goes on tell me to save my virginity for celibacy. [OK….] And tells me about his gigolo past [Awkward!]….
Haha at this point I don’t know what to say and nod my head till he wraps up his story. I politely end the discussion and wish him a good day. He tells me a final joke then walks away. A few minutes later I see him outside the window. He blows me a kiss, waves bye-bye and wonders into the distance. (I got a quick snapshot of the guy as he walked away. I felt too weird taking a photo of him directly).
Appropriate music
Landed in San Jose, CA and what beautiful weather! Sunshine
and temperatures of 80 or so :) I love it!

Today’s Highlights:
- Taste of Asian cuisine
- Wise words from a Chinese strange
- Cozy hotel
FOOD
Today’s purchase was full of new items I’ve never had
before. Corn silk tea, Sweet red bean pastry with a preserved pheasant egg, Spicy
Jerky Squid, Sweet and sour prunes, dried mushrooms (delightfully crunchy), and
coffee chocolate wavers that melt in your mouth [not pictured: date lotus pastry].

ANCIENT CHINESE WISDOM
Ha the BEST part of the day was the old man that approached
me at the market. I was eating dinner checking out the adds when I get tapped
on the shoulder. I turn to see this 80 year-old Asian man in a Hawaiian-esc
shirt. He tells asks me, “ Do you know what happens to those who eat Chinese
food?”
Me: “No what happens?”
Old-man: “They wake up with their eyes slanted” [haha I’m thinking ‘oh boy’]
He proceeds to tell me how not to get fat…
(“The trick is to not over eat. Take a bite and chew with
every tooth.”)
[Ha whether he was trying to tell me directly or indirectly, I picked up the hint and hit the gym ;) ]

Hahaha I got to say, it was the most interest and funny way
to start of the week. Words of wisdom from a unreserved stranger haha.
To come: Monday is my
first day on the job. Wish me luck!

DAY 1
The beginning of it all...
School is over and the summer has begun--with that is the start of many adventures.
I begin with my internship at Sunpower, as an indirect procurement intern. My first day of training starts Monday! It's hardly believable. A car ride to PDX Sunday morning takes me to San Jose, California where my adventures begins.
Stay tuned to this site for more about my weekly endeavors. :)
To come: internship updates, California experiences, summer in Austin, Spain travels, and European excursions.
